About the blog

My name is Charlotte, and I'm an Undergrad student at Durham University, studying Spanish and Arabic.

You really can't go to Peru without visiting the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu!

As a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) student at Durham University, the 'Year Abroad' (YA) is a compulsory part of my Undergraduate degree. This blog will follow my adventures, experiences, and mishaps from my YA (and, in general, life as a MFL student) and hopefully provide tips for other students who are about to embark on their YA.

I have spent just over four months living in Peru, volunteering as an English Language assistant, and am currently intensively studying Arabic in Oman for six months. The YA has been a roller-coaster of ups and downs, but most of all it has been a chance to grow up, use the languages I have so desperately been trying to perfect for years, and explore countries (and continents) that I probably wouldn't have been able to visit under normal circumstances.

I hope you enjoy my blog! :)
